“Digital Era” the 5th Annual GDPR and Data Security Forum in Riga was my location for GDPR day.
Hosted by the Latvian company, Data Security Solutions, iCompli had a great platform to talk to a very ‘broad church’ of Latvian and Baltic companies about how GDPR was influencing the world of marketing technology #martech.
No chance that this was going to go un-noticed either, with three government Ministers from Latvia and Estonia speaking and pan-Baltic live streaming of all the sessions.
There were some great sessions, from the complexities of introducing GDPR across sixteen German federal states, the Global view of privacy attitudes from Chris Combermale of the UK DMA, and iCompli’s talk on GDPR and marketing technology, the conference covered a lot of ground!
At the end of the day I joined several illustrious guests for the ‘plenary panel session’ to try and draw together just what GDPR would mean for the organisations and governments attending. ‘Lively’ moderating ensured we didn’t always agree with each other on the panel, which just goes to show how far we still have to go to understand how this impressive piece of privacy legislation will impact on all our lives, both at work and at home.
